Cathodic material for lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries consisting mainly of nanostructured iron fluoride. This material enhances an improvement in the theoretical specific capacity of up to 700 mAh/g, which traverses to an increase in capacity of about 200% over traditionally used materials in these devices (LiCoO2), in addition to other competitive advantages in ease of industrialization. Its specific usage is as an alternative high-capacity electrode material for the cathodes of rechargeable Li-ion batteries.
